Crystal Clear: A Blog About The Wonderful World Of Glass

I first fell in love with glass when I was ten years old. My mother took me to see a wonderful recital where the pianist was playing a glass piano. I was mesmerised by the way the piano shone and sparkled as it reflected the stage lights. I could never have imagined such a glamorous object. Ever since then, i have been fascinated by different types of glass. From stained glass panels to one-way mirrors, my eyes will always notice the glass fixtures in a room first. Recently, I ate at a restaurant in Japan where the entire floor was made of patterned glass. Needless to say, I was too excited to eat! This blog is for those who are looking for glass items and glass lovers like myself. I hope it gives you a peek into the wonderful world of glass and the options out there. Please tread carefully.

Keeping Your Shower Screens Looking Like New: 3 Ways to Prevent Soap Scum

by Ellen Jokinen

It's surprising how quickly soap scum can accumulate on shower screens, and make them look absolutely filthy. If you want to avoid spending an entire day scrubbing away at soap scum and hard water stains, here are 3 simple tips on how to keep these annoying messes at bay.

Always Squeegee The Screens After a Shower

Soap scum is the buildup of soap deposits once they have interacted with the minerals in hard water. It takes a while for the soap scum to harden and accumulate. If you don't want to spend a lot of time and elbow grease cleaning heavily deposited shower screens, use a squeegee after every shower. This will remove not only the buildup of soap residues, but also water. You'll end up with a streak-free shower screen that will barely need to be cleaned.

Switch to Liquid Body Wash Rather Than Soap

The hardeners in bar soap is the main culprit for soap scum, so switch to liquid body wash if you start to see a lot of soap scum accumulating after your showers. Liquid body wash will leave a lot less or no soap scum behind, and the soap scum that is left behind will generally be a lot easier to remove than soap scum from bar soap. You should look for liquid body wash that contains trisodium etidronate, which is a preservative that will actually prevent soap scum from forming.

Wipe Shower Screens with Lemon Oil Regularly

If you're not particularly fond of harsh chemicals, then you'll love this next recommendation: wipe shower screens with lemon oil regularly to prevent soap scum from accumulating. Lemon oil will also break down any soap scum that may be already present making it a lot easier to remove. In addition, the scent will leave your entire bathroom smelling refreshed. Apply the lemon oil in a circular motion using a scrubbing pad, and wipe it away later using a soft cotton pad.

Conclusion

Making an effort to clean and maintain your shower screens regularly will prevent soap scum from accumulating. This way, you won't have to spend your weekends scrubbing away at hard-to-remove messes, and can finally enjoy your showers in peace. Preventing soap scum from accumulating your shower screens will not only keep it looking like new, but will also keep it in better condition, so you won't have to replace them as often in the future.
